The next two weekends are transitional for our theaters as the summer shows close and the 'seasons' open. This is the last weekend to see "An Ideal Husband" and "Othello" at Idaho Shakespeare. Starlight Mountain Theater closes "The Scarlet Pimpernel", Musical Theatre of Idaho closes "Cats",  Alley Rep closes "Last of the Boys" and Coolwater Creek closes the western melodrama "Ravel Without Applause".

But on the other hand, Stage Coach Theatre opens "Noises Off" and celebrates the opening of their 30th Season with a gala. Next weekend Boise Little Theater opens with "Lend Me a Tenor" and Idaho Shakespeare begins it's September run of "The Woman in Black".

The Idaho International Film Festival has announced that it will move the festival to the spring, effective March, 2011. In order to effect this change, there will not be a festival this year in September 2010.
According to Executive Director Lyle Banks, “We have decided to permanently move the Idaho International Film Festival to the Spring with our next festival tentatively scheduled for March 10-13, 2011. The primary reason for the change is that it allows us to gain access to the best new, independent, American film titles available. Having the festival is September has precluded us from showing films that have screening commitments at Sundance, Toronto and the American Film Institute Festivals. The change to Spring also allows the film festival to better coincide with important State and Federal grant timetables which are critical to its continued growth and development."
All submissions in possession will be considered for the Spring Event. They will not be accepting any more submissions until further notice. A Call for Entries will be made when they complete the Film Festival's move to a spring event.
Also of note, Bruce Fletcher in not in charge of programming the festival at this time so all inquiries should go to info@idahofilmfestival.org and not to Mr. Fletcher.

Idaho Film Office has announced a Grant Program designed to assist filmmakers in Idaho through hands-on production experience on eligible projects. Eligible projects may include documentary, narrative or animated productions, internet or device game design, smart phone application design or completion of a work-in-progress. Projects must be filmed in Idaho by Idaho residents and be completed within the grant period of just over a year.
Completed applications are due August 1, 2010.  They will be reviewed by a panel of professionals, who will recommend receipients to the funding organization's advisory board, the Idaho Travel Council. The film office estimates that only 4-5 projects will be funded this year with the dollars available.  Funding per project is limited to $5000 with matching funds required.
