     Watchfire Pictures is producing a narrative short film with supporting roles for one adult female and one adult male, both 30s-early 40s. The film is about two critical days in the life of a young girl as she records the world around her with an empty film camera.
     Auditions will be Sunday April 8, from 12-3pm. Film production will be scheduled over two consecutive weekends plus a few evenings in late April and early May, dates TBD. The roles are unpaid.

     HomeGrown Theater is hosting a Kickstarter Campaign for their main stage production  "Veronica Livingstone, I Presume", written by local writer Josh Gross.

     On Friday, April 6, Visual Arts Collective holds the Opening Reception for Bocolab, a collaborative group of artists, scientists, and engineers who create sculptures to interact with people. Like many artists and scientists of the past, it is their goal to explore the relationship between humans and our environment. BOCOLAB shares the idea that innovation, inspiration, meaning, and magic can all emerge from the intersection of art and science.
     The reception begins at 7p and is free. The exhibit runs through May 26.

     Friday, April 6, Capital City Kiwanis Club and the Egyptian Theatre will be showing the classic silent film "Ben Hur:  A Tale of The Christ". This 1925 film was the most expensive silent film ever produced, until "The Artist" came along.
    The showing will feature local organist Sean Rogers. Sean is on the Board of Directors for Boise Music Week and organist-in-residence at the Egyptian Theatre. 
     General Admission is $12.00, Seniors and Students are $10.00 and children under 12 are $5.00. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Kiwanis Eliminate Project a joint effort with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 babies and a significant number of women each year.
     The event starts at 6:30pm.

     On Friday, April 6, Company of Fools is proud to present An Evening with Jodie Foster. In an intimate ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ forum hosted by Company of Fools’ Core Artist Denise Simone, Ms. Foster will share insights into her acting process, stories of her career as an actor and director, and her perspective on the importance of the artist in our society.

     The Idaho Media Professionals hold their fourth lunch of the year on Wednesday April 18, at Smoky Mountain Pizza, 415 E. Parkcenter Drive, Boise. Featured speaker is Dan Allers, an entertainment industry veteran who will entertain and regale you with insider tips.
     Networking/eating starts at 11:00am. Speaker starts at noon.
     Everyone is welcome to attend IMP lunches.

     The coupon for free seating to Boise Music Week's production of "The King and I" will appear in the April 18 issue. You can still get in to see the shows for free by just showing up at the box office, but ticket holders are admitted first.
     "The King and I" runs May 9-12 at The Morrison Center for Performing Arts.

     Registration is now open for IDAHO CINEPOSIUM, an Indie Northwest Film Conference being held  May 18-19 in Couer d'Alene.
    The Conference kicks off Friday evening with a special screening of "Soda Springs", fresh from winning the Audience Award at the Sun Valley Film Festival. The movie was written by Idahoans Jay Pickett and Michael Feifer, and stars Pickett, Victoria Pratt and Tom Skerritt.
     The next day the conference really gets in gear with speakers from Los Angeles and around the Northwest discussing film funding, legal issues and production management.
     Included is Jerome Courshon who covers the ever-changing landscape of film distribution and producer Linda Nelson, who will delve into social networking for filmmakers.
     The Special guest interview for the conference is actor Joel Courtney, star of SUPER 8.

And one more mention of festivals, a reminder that The Idaho 48 Hour Film Festival & Competition is open for registration on their website.
     The festival begins Friday, June 1, 2012,
with the pre-production kick-off meeting, 6:00pm Municipal Park (500 S. Walnut Street, Boise). Film Drop Off is Sunday, June 3, 2012 by 6:00pm on The Flicks Patio. Festival showing is Saturday, June 9. Showtimes TBA. Takes place at The Flicks. And “Best Of i48” Screening & Awards: Sunday, June 10, 7:00pm at the Egyptian Theater.

     Story Story Night has announced its themes for their Spring 2012 season and announced an open call for true stories from brave souls.
    The themes are: April 30 is Awkward: Cringe-Worthy Stories. May 30 is Legends: Stories of Heroes and Epics.
    Featured storytellers receive free entry, 2 additional tickets for guests, a $25 gift certificate to Red Feather Lounge, a theme-based trophy by Bricolage, a Story Story Night punchcard and other gifts and honors.
